Shop Small Belle-A Peak Into Two Local Pottery Shops

Hey Belle Hey-

I know, I know- our blog post normally goes up on Monday but…this thing call Covid-19 has me and the world a little upside down

Yep..My DIY Shirt Says It All- SOCIAL DISTANCING IS THE NEW COOL

I am always looking to try new, fun, and crafty things especially when they support small businesses. A few months ago, I had the opportunity to explore Color Me Mine in Cary, NC to try my hand at my first pottery paint experience.

The plan had always been to post my experience with painting pottery and when COVID-19 happened I decided to try the ‘take-home’ experience with Crazy Glaze in Fuquay-Varina, NC.

Let’s talk experience…

The above pictures are from the visit to Color Me Mine. I loved having the table ready to go with everything we needed. One of the hardest things was deciding which piece especially for a first-timer. (Belle Tip: When I went back in I overheard an assistant explaining which pieces would be easy and which ones are for more advance painters-Ask if in doubt-Don’t be like me). I went back and forth with what I wanted to paint but decided on something practical and useful.

Belle Lesson Learned: I really enjoyed my experience but I realize the pink paint was slightly lighter than I thought once we picked up our items from being glazed. I would totally do this again as a day activity.

Before COVID-19 lockdown, I wrote a list of small businesses I wanted to support and I new I wanted a second chance at painting pottery to retry my new skills ( I picked a more advanced item the first time around…lol).

With a little research I located Crazy Glaze and purchased the take home kit for $.20.00 which included paint and paint brushes. This time around I decided to go with a trinket tray because Belles always have hidden treasures to stash away…lol

Since I was at home, I had to get creative and lay out a place to paint and I used some washi from my personal stash to create a decorative design on the top of the trinket dish.

Belle Lesson Learned: Choosing the at home paint route allowed me to light my favorite candles and turn on my favorite show and just paint. I would totally recommend this option as a sleepover party activity for kids and adults. I haven’t taken the trinket dish to get it glazed just yet but as soon as I do I’ll be sure to post pictures on our Instagram Page.

I highly recommend these locations for a family day or as a grab-n-go option.
