Happy Hearts Day- Add a Little DIY to Store Brought Valentines

Hey Belle Hey-

Happy Heart’s Day!! (Well Almost). This is one of my favorite holidays because….there is soooo much pink!

I am also mindful that pulling off that extra special valentine’s card can take some time so this month I decided to focus on upgrading the pink hearts found in Target’s stationery section for a little valentine love. The one think I really love about this DIY is that since these cards are in the stationery section you can use these tips any time.

Embossing DIY Addition

The first DIY I did was to emboss the pink hearts. I have found embossing to be a great way to add some extra sparkle to a card, invitation or stationery. I am not a great drawer so for me I enjoy using stamps along with embossing powder and my heat gun. Embossing powder comes with so many color choices. I am currently loving the gold foil look of embossing powder. I have had this powder for over two years and it has gone far.

Belle Tip: Before sealing the embossing powder use a brush to gently wipe away any powder you do not want o remain on your project.

Raised Heart DIY Addition

The second DIY involves adding extra hearts to the store card by using my Cricut Air 2 and red cardstock. I simply searched designed space for a heart- you will have soooo many free choices. Once I found one I liked, I cut it out and then used the mounting tape to place the red heart onto the pink heart. Using the mounting tape helps to give the card a 3D effect.

Belle Tip: If you do not have double-sided mounting tape you can take some foam pieces and glue them together to make the same effect.

Confetti Heart DIY Addition

The third DIY involves adding confetti hearts to the store card by using my Cricut Air 2 and red cardstock. I used the same heart from the 3D design but made smaller versions of the heart shapes. Once I had a few cut out I used my mini XYRON machine that turns items (mainly paper is what I use) into stickers. From there I was able to stick the tiny red hearts all over the pink heart.

Belle Tip: You can place the confetti hearts in a pattern or place them randomly on the heart

I really loved how all of these hearts cam out and I can’t decide on a favorite…what’s yours? Comment Below and….

As Always,
